The Golf III GTi '20 Jahre' is a limited edition of 1, 000 special units. This GTi was available in three- and five-door versions to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this highly regarded model. Exterior features include red stripes on the bumpers, red brake calipers, 16-inch BBS alloy wheels with split rims, two stainless steel rear exhaust pipes, and smoked glass for the fog lights, indicators and tail lights. Inside, this limited edition model includes Recaro bucket seats with checkered upholstery at the front and matching rear seats with GTi logos, red seat belts, a partially chrome and leather 'golf' gear knob, red stitching, silver dials on the dashboard and footwell mats with red piping.
This particular example must be one of the best still in existence. It is impeccably maintained and in exceptional original condition. The bodywork is still covered in its original paint, with no significant signs of wear or use. The interior looks and smells like new and has seen no modification. The car comes with a full service history stamped by the VW dealer. The timing belt has recently been replaced and the air conditioning recharged. This GTi was delivered to its first German owner by the Volkswagen-Audi Scherer dealer in October 1997 and has had only four owners since. It is completely rust-free and accident-free, and its low mileage is verifiably documented. All factory stamps and stickers are present, as well as all manuals and tools.
The Golf GTi is the only true original hot hatch, and this '20 Jahre' edition is already a limited edition in its own right. However, this particular model is even more special because it remains completely original and feels like a car that could be only a few years old. Most of these cars are now completely worn, so it is very rare and unusual to find one in this fantastic original condition. Truly a car for genuine enthusiasts.
