At Machines with a Mission, we have a soft spot for Claude Lelouch’s film Un Homme et une Femme, which won an Oscar in 1966. So, when this white race-ready Mustang crossed our path, we could not help dressing it in the colours of the car that « Jean-Louis Duroc » drove from Monaco to Paris and Deauville the night after his Monte-Carlo Rally victory.
Under the superb livery “Écurie Ford France” hides a road-legal racing car which, in our view, is the FIA-homologated competition weapon with the greatest versatility available before 1966.
Originally, the car came to life in 1966 at Ford’s Amsterdam assembly plant and was converted into a race car in the 1990s. More recently, it has been fully rebuilt by Tachyon Engineering in the Netherlands and has taken part in several Dutch Supersixties Championship races and the Goodwood Members Meeting 2024. Beyond that, the car is eligible for a wide variety of events and championships across Europe and beyond.
It is perfectly suited to the new Classic Touring Challenge for pre-1966 cars, the Masters pre-66 touring car races, the Supersixties, the Iberian Championship, the Tour Auto, the Modena Cento Ore and many more.
