Mercedes-Benz 500 SL R129 of 1991 History: Motors Corner is pleased to present for sale this 1991 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL R129. Delivered new in 1990 by Beverly Hills Ltd, this 500 SL benefits from a documented history. It was imported to France, homologated by Mercedes-Benz in 2017 and appraised in 2024. The car has a file of invoices totalling nearly €23, 000, including notably the refurbishment of the soft top mechanism in 2025. It has just benefited from a full polish. It should be noted that the car is supplied with its stamped service booklet. The front bucket seats are covered in perforated anthracite leather (code 271A) in excellent condition, with no cracking or notable wear. The seat belts are in good condition. The black dashboard is typical of the R129 and features a complete VDO instrumentation graduated in miles (USA version, code 461). The centre console is adorned with varnished walnut inserts with no defects, as are the door panels. Automatic climate control (code 581) is present, as is a Clarion ARX 5470 radio with built-in CD changer. The gear lever sits in the centre of the wood trim console. The black carpeting is clean, with bespoke “500” embroidered mats. The interior exudes a premium, well-finished ambience faithful to Mercedes’ level of finish at the time. Mechanical condition: Under the bonnet lies the legendary 5. 0-litre M119 V8 with 326 horsepower, emblematic of the 500 SL R129. The engine bay is in superbly clean condition, faithful to its original configuration, with period-correct Mercedes-Benz engine covers in perfect condition. All ancillaries, hoses and components are compliant and well preserved. A major service was performed in August 2025 as well as an operation on the roof pistons in October 2025. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and overall operation is optimal, delivering the driving pleasure typical of the great Mercedes of that era. Exterior condition: The bodywork is presented in its original Arctic White (code 147), uniform and glossy after the full polish it has just received, with no notable defects. The clean, taut lines of the R129, penned by Bruno Sacco, are perfectly showcased. The headlights are in very good condition, as is the chrome grille topped with the Mercedes star. The original bi-colour rear lights are well preserved. The car rides on its Mercedes Gullideckel wheels (the “drain cover” type), fitted with Continental ContiSportContact tyres. The vehicle is equipped with its hard top matching the body in perfect condition, as well as its soft top whose mechanism has just been completely overhauled.
