It is easy to admire its beauty, but finding a genuine Giulia Spider Veloce from this year to add to a collection is much more difficult. These stylish cars are already rare – only 1, 091 units were produced – and finding one in good condition is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Yet we are pleased to present here a very nice original example, delivered new on 8 April 1965 in Las Vegas, USA. The car was later transferred to Sweden, and finally imported to the Netherlands by its last owner in 2019. It currently bears a Dutch registration. In 2026, Alfa Romeo Classiche issued an “Certificato Di Origine.” This document confirms that the authenticity and originality of this example have been certified by Alfa Romeo. Based on the chassis number, a meticulous search of relevant documents is conducted in the historical archives. On the basis of the results of this search, the year of manufacture and the original specifications of the model (version, equipment, engine serial number, etc.) are noted. These certificates are issued exclusively by Alfa Romeo Classiche. EXTERIOR An Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider; one of the most iconic Alfas ever built, and in the Veloce, powerful and rare version, in the original colour “Alfa Rosso.” The car is almost entirely original: as far as can be judged, it has not been welded and body panels are still as they left the Pininfarina factory. The chrome and window seals are also original. The car is in a decent, honest condition – not perfect, but ideal for enjoying on the road. Thanks to storage in a heated garage, the car has remained rust-free. The hood has been replaced with a high-quality mohair version and is in good condition. The 15-inch wheels are fitted with hubcaps. All four tyres are Michelin reference tyres and still have sufficient tread. INTERIOR The interior is covered in black vinyl and is in remarkably good condition. The seats and carpets are in good condition, and the dashboard is intact. No aftermarket radio has been installed. The boot is tidy and contains the battery and petrol tank. In addition, an extra switch has been fitted for the windscreen washer, replacing the original foot pump system. The attractive imitation leather contrasts nicely with the red upholstery and the red dashboard. The imitation leather is also on the doors and shows no damage. The steering wheel is three-spoked. Equipment includes Veglia instruments (speedometer, tachometer and combined oil, temperature and fuel gauge). Seat belts have been installed. The central console bears the characteristic Alfa Romeo badge in gold. MECHANICS The Giulia Spider Veloce is equipped with a 1, 600 cc inline-four twin-cam engine, two Weber carburettors, front disc brakes and a five-speed manual gearbox. The battery is located in the boot. From 2019, the car underwent a thorough technical overhaul, with more than €20, 000 invested. Window mechanisms, door handles and brakes, among other components, were replaced. The gearbox and driveshaft also received attention. The engine and suspension have benefited from a full service. In 2021, four Koni shock absorbers and four new spark plugs were fitted. With its light weight of just over 900 kg and rear-wheel drive, it is a very enjoyable car to drive: whether you want to stroll around Lake Como or tackle the Alpine hairpins, this Alfa will put a smile on your face.
