Description
R8 Gordini in Bordeaux red, 721. It’s a genuine Gordini, its original colour, authenticated by Renault (production-line release sheet in the photo).
Work carried out in 2003:
- Overhaul of the gearbox, running gear (bearings and silentblocks), cooling, exhaust, dashboard, and bimétal Deltamics wheels.
Work carried out in 2024:
- New upholstery (seats, door panels and carpets).
- Complete braking system (including hydrovac).
- New carburettors.
- Electronic ignition (original mechanical distributor supplied).
As for the bodywork, I haven’t done any work since I bought it; it has a number of minor faults (scratches, small dings) but is sound. It had been off the road for ten years when I bought it (following a death) and had a thin coat of paint applied in the late 1980s.
I’m including the four original steel wheels with hubcaps (all in very good condition, wheels repainted in 2003 and hubcaps new), with recently fitted tyres.
