The Austin Seven was introduced to the public in 1922. Sir Herbert Austin, later known as Lord Austin, was responsible for the original design of the Seven. Much of the detailed engineering and development was carried out by Stanley Edge, who was one of the key figures behind the Austin Seven models.
Over the years, Austin produced the Seven in many different body styles such as tourers, saloons, fabric-bodied saloons, sports models, and more. The RL was the fixed steel saloon version, unlike the fabric-bodied saloons.
The RL Saloon was one of the versions that demonstrated the desire to provide customers with a fixed body car (offering protection from weather conditions, etc.) instead of only open tourers.
The Austin Seven RL Saloon was produced from May 1930 until February 1931 a very short production period.
Only a small number of RL models have survived, which makes a car like this especially interesting and desirable today.

The Engine
The engine is a four-cylinder unit producing 747 cc. The car has a 3-speed gearbox plus reverse gear.
This 1930 Austin Seven RL is in beautiful condition. Around 1950/ 1951, the Austin was moved to the Netherlands and was officially registered on Dutch plates in August 1955. The car has remained within the same family ever since, being passed down to children and grandchildren. It has been carefully preserved and always stored indoors.
The Austin starts, drives, and shifts well, and everything on the car functions properly. The lights and indicators are also in working order.
