Honda S800 MK1 1967 Chassis AS800C 1001687 – Engine AS800E 1003622. Matching numbers
Here are the work carried out.
Mechanical:
• Servicing the brakes, with replacement of the front brake hoses.
• Servicing the brake master cylinder and clutch (release) unit.
• Replacing the clutch slave cylinder.
• Servicing the radiator and fitting a new thermostat.
• Replacing all filters (fuel, air, oil, gauze strainer).
• Cleaning the fuel tank.
• Servicing the carburettor manifold by a specialist.
• Replacing the water and fuel pipes.
• Replacing the fuel pump, with the installation of a solenoid valve to prevent fuel from filling the cylinders when the vehicle is on a slope, thus avoiding hydraulic lock and big-end bearing overheating/ seizure.
• Replacing the rubber bushes of the anti-roll bar.
• Replacing the battery.
• Changing engine oil, gearbox oil and differential oil.
• New central stainless-steel exhaust line.
• 2 new silencers.
• Changing 5 tyres.
Electrical:
• Checking the entire wiring loom, with replacement of any suspect connectors.
Trim:
• New floor and boot mats.
• Repair of a seat.
• New rubber gaiters for the gear-change lever.
Bodywork:
• Polishing the bodywork.
• Refurbishing the engine bay.
• Fitting the original logos.
• Sandblasting and epoxy painting of the 5 wheels.
• Sandblasting and epoxy painting of the spare-wheel well.
This mini-restoration required over 100 hours of work.
All replaced parts were supplied by Michael Ortmann.
The other parts come from automotive suppliers.
Also, given the above and the costs involved (€5, 650 for parts), and the fact that the engine smokes (compression rings need replacing), I’m asking €23, 000. 00, which is not excessive considering its overall condition.
