Description

An original example in great condition and with low mileage to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the A310 and … the 70th anniversary of ALPINE! The last ALPINE A310 1600! Built from 1971 to 1984, the Alpine A310 made its debut at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show. It will be available the following year, with the stated aim of offering in the range a Grand Tourer-style car, as envisioned by Jean REDELE—less spartan and more comfortable than the famous early BERLINETTE A110. It’s a 2+2, with the ability to carry up to 4 people. Production totals 11, 484 units: just 2, 318 in the 4-cylinder version and 9, 166 in the V6 version. In the hands of some talented drivers, it went on to become French Rally Champion in 1977 with Guy FREQUELIN, French Rallycross Champion with Jean RAGNOTTI, European Champion in that discipline, and so on… Of course, the A310 also equipped the French GENDARMERIE from 1974 to 1987, with many well-known photos!

The A310 1600 VG model (which follows the VE and VF) is fitted with the 1, 647cc 4-cylinder engine (the same unit as the R16 TX) with a WEBER twin-choke carburettor, developing 95 hp at 6, 000 rpm, mated to a precise 5-speed gearbox, enabling it to reach 190 km/ h. The car weighs just 830 kg …

This model was only listed in the catalogue for 2 years (1975 and 1976), making it, along the way, the rarest and least-produced A310 1600 variant, with only … 386 units—just before the launch of the V6 powerplant, but with all the latest developments of the 1, 600 4-cylinder version. Our lovely example was first registered in October 1976. The current owner bought it in 1990, so 36 years ago …

The engine is very pleasant to use and has a superb sound. It’s paired with a crisp, perfectly functioning 5-speed manual gearbox, which—on our model equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes—gives it an enjoyable drive and really likeable road manners! Since the purchase in 1990, our owner has taken the utmost care of his fine Dieppoise.

The work carried out on the car was done by professionals and/ or our seller himself and his close friends—serious enthusiasts and people with real mechanical knowledge. The work is both extensive and high-quality: a correctly executed Champagne-colour respray by a well-regarded local bodyshop in the 1990s; desired upholstery upgrade to red leather; carpets and door cards; headlining; electronically assisted ignition; a complete cooling system refresh (2026); rear tyres (2026); various bellows/ boots, etc… with the systematic replacement, as they go, of all wear items or parts needing replacement. The history file includes the invoices that are available.

Let’s also note that, for personal convenience, the original engine (still available today) was replaced at only 38, 245 km in 2011 by an identical engine, but one assembled and built by Jean-Claude SAVOYE—now deceased—an extremely well-regarded and talented engine builder from the Nord Pas de Calais region, a direct acquaintance of our seller. The vehicle has also had systematic periodic servicing despite the low mileage. A few parts will be included with the vehicle at sale (including a brand-new windscreen, a plastic rear bumper, a radiator grille, headlight lenses).

The following options and equipment are fitted:
– Heated rear window
– Right and left “bullet” mirrors
– Spare wheel
– Trip-master functional unit for potential roadbook/ ITR events
– In-dash radio with antenna at the front right
– Cut-off switch
– Fire extinguisher …

To date, the 5-digit odometer shows: 74, 650 km. The V5C is held as “Collection” since 2005. The MOT/ technical inspection is valid from May 2026 for the sale, and will therefore be valid for 5 years! The registration number is still in the old format (59) …

Also, note that a very positive appraisal (included in the file) was carried out in 2019 (at 68, 000 km). For a bit of background, its owners have used it for many Club outings and for grand touring trips in classic cars (Venice, Spain, Corsica, the Benelux, the Vosges, …), making the most of the drivability and comfort of this great 50-year-old sports tourer today!

Our seller—passionate and highly meticulous collector—has cared for his beautiful A310 for nearly 36 years. So the open-road drives and fresh-air strolls are yours with this reliable, original car and a true head-turner!

The asking price is well positioned for the car’s condition and for the current market price of this rare and much sought-after model, the very limited last-version production of the A310 4-cylinder… We invite interested parties to discover this lovely example by contacting VEITURA to arrange a visit with the owner (Hauts de France region…)
