Porsche 911 3. 2 Carrera Lightweight – 1984.
For sale: a 1984 Porsche 911 3. 2 Carrera Coupé, fully rebuilt in lightweight spec. The car was stripped down to the bare shell, then rebuilt with a constant focus on reducing weight, improving rigidity and enhancing road behaviour.
It’s based on an original 3. 2 Carrera. During the restoration, the bodywork has been lightened and reinforced. To achieve the minimum weight, glassfibre doors, a carbon-fibre roof, a glassfibre bonnet and various other lightened body parts have been fitted. The side windows and rear screen are polycarbonate. The kerb weight is under 950 kg—significantly less than a standard 3. 2 Carrera.
The air-cooled, 3. 2-litre six-cylinder flat boxer engine has been completely overhauled. The chassis has also been modified and fitted with Bilstein Club Sport dampers and adjustable anti-roll bars front and rear. In addition, the car is equipped with an SSI exhaust system with a proper twin outlet.
The interior is stripped-back and light. It features sport bucket seats, an RS carpet kit and a roll cage. Non-essential parts have been removed to reduce weight even further.
