Description
We are pleased to offer for sale this sublime example of a Porsche 911 Targa 2. 7 MFI.
This rare vehicle was one of 20 vehicles ordered by the Belgian Gendarmerie / Rijkswacht in 1976, featuring the legendary 911 Carrera 2. 7 RS engine developing 210 bhp and a narrow bodyshell. This configuration is unique to the Belgian police intervention vehicles. The Belgian State could easily have ordered Carrera RS models directly, but did not wish anyone to know the true performance capabilities of these cars.
It is also the final production Sondermodell (special models) of the 2. 7 RS family.
At the time, it was the fastest police car in the world.
The vehicle is presented in Grand Prix White (908), adorned with its legendary fluorescent red/ orange stripe, with black leather interior.
We have a complete historical file from the Gendarmerie including the technical specifications for "rapid response vehicles", the specifications document, the order letter, the purchase agreement, the letter from D'Ieteren concerning the delivery of the vehicles, as well as a diploma from the Royal Gendarmerie School.
This vehicle was registered on 12/ 05/ 1976 and delivered to the Gendarmerie on 14/ 05/ 1976, where it remained in service until April 1981.
It was subsequently sold to a resident of Lasne on 23/ 04/ 1981 by the 3rd Office of State Revenue. We have the original invoice for this sale, as well as its registration tax declaration.
The owner then deposited the vehicle at D'Ieteren Mail in Brussels for a standard exchange with a new engine of the same type (911/ 83), an overhaul of the electrical harness, and other minor work, for an amount twice its purchase price from the State.
The vehicle was subsequently resold in 2015 to a Belgian collector, following the death of its owner. The collector undertook a complete restoration of the vehicle to Porsche Classic quality standards between 2015 and 2019, whilst maintaining it in civilian configuration.
The vehicle was subsequently resold to a French collector in 2023.
This vehicle has therefore had only three owners over 45 years during its civilian retirement.
We have subsequently undertaken a restoration to return the vehicle to its original configuration and restore all its accessories, including:
• Bosch rotating beacon
• Bitonal sirens
• STOP panel
• Mble radio + antenna
• Onboard instrumentation
• Signallicht-76 warning triangle
• Fluorescent red/ orange stripe
• Yellow front fog lights
Belgian legislation permits these former police vehicles to be driven in their full police livery and configuration.
The vehicle is sold with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity confirming that the car was delivered as a "Police version".
Vehicles are viewable by appointment only.
