Regarded by many as one of the finest models ever produced by Rolls-Royce, the Silver Cloud represented a significant step forward from its predecessor. Its design was entirely new, whilst its generous proportions offered a level of space and comfort that was simply exceptional.
With a wheelbase of 5. 38 metres, the standard Silver Cloud had, so to speak, enough interior space to accommodate a small cricket match.
In 1959, the Silver Cloud II was introduced. The most notable change lay beneath the bonnet, where the straight-six engine was replaced by a far more powerful 6. 2-litre V8. This brought not only easier performance, but also a higher top speed, just below 200 km/ h. From personal experience, we can confirm that at these speeds, champagne glasses do indeed start to make themselves heard.
Our Silver Cloud II was originally delivered to the United States and has since undergone a complete restoration, enhanced along the way with several judicious improvements. It is finished in its original Midnight Blue, paired with a dark grey leather interior and blue carpets — a wonderfully understated combination that suits the car perfectly.
The car is accompanied by impressive archives tracing its history, service records, certificates and other documentation, offering a remarkably complete picture of this particular Silver Cloud and its life over the years.
