Description
This 1972 French-market Honda K5 has a known and unusual history: barely run in, the motorcycle was put into storage for more than 40 years, apart from a few periodic start-ups. In 2016, its new owner became certain that the motorcycle had indeed covered 4, 000 km. – chrome not pitted, tank interior in nickel-like condition, lightly flaking crankcase lacquer, drive chain and sprockets very good, brake linings and clutch plates unworn, saddle in excellent condition, air filters clean. He carried out a thorough restoration of the motorcycle, polishing the alloys and all the crankcases, stripping and cleaning the carburettors, restoring the tank and polishing the original paintwork. In 2020, the current owner continued in the same spirit. Notably, he replaced the silencers corroded by the earlier periodic start-ups (using genuine Honda parts), as well as the spark plugs and suppressors, the battery, the contact breaker points and condenser, and numerous rubber seals. A Keihin-style Japanese carburettor kit (Keyster Japan) and Dunlop K70 tyres have been fitted. The speedometer and tachometer have been overhauled by a specialist. Ignition, carburation and valve timing settings were entrusted to a renowned professional. The motorcycle is ridden regularly and runs impeccably; it has covered 9, 000 km since new, including 5, 000 km since 2020. It is registered as a historic vehicle.
