Description
BMW 3 Series 323i Hartge H26 1984
Motors Corner is pleased to present this Hartge H26-prepared BMW 323i. It is a French-supplied car, registered on a French historic vehicle registration document (carte grise de collection). The car received its complete Hartge conversion in 1989, the year it passed the Mines inspection, which certified its conformity and official stamping of its chassis and engine numbers. An expert report from 1989 also confirms a full anti-corrosion treatment of the chassis carried out before that date. Its identity and paperwork have therefore been established and documented from the outset.
The car has covered 130, 000 km, with a consistent mileage history, and has had the same owner since 2015. It has always been kept in a garage. It comes with its original owner's handbook, original radio manual, all MOT and technical inspection reports, a 2025 expert report, and a complete file of invoices since new, representing several thousand euros.
Mechanicals:
The M20 inline-six produces approximately 190 hp thanks to the Hartge preparation. The H26 cylinder head has polished ports, larger-diameter valves and uprated springs, paired with a Schrick camshaft. The inlet side has been completely redone, and the engine receives a Hartge rocker cover and reinforced sump, plus a manifold cover, the manifold and a full stainless steel exhaust system with Hartge silencer.
The transmission uses a five-speed manual gearbox with inverted sport ratios and a limited-slip differential with a 3. 23 final drive. The chassis receives Hartge front and rear strut braces and a Bilstein B6 suspension kit. Everything sits on four Hartge alloy wheels with their centre caps.
The car is up to date with its servicing, has been maintained without interruption and is documented by invoices. The engine underwent a complete rebuild in 2021, including a skimmed cylinder head, piston rings, big-end and crankshaft bearings, and injector checks. The timing belt was replaced in 2024, along with the tensioner pulley, head gasket and spark plugs, as well as the gearbox and differential oil changes. The alternator was changed in 2023 and the clutch in 2016. Routine maintenance, including oil and oil filter changes, is carried out every year. This car is ready to hit the road.
Interior:
The cabin retains its tartan cloth upholstery, in very good condition, and features the full Hartge equipment: four-spoke steering wheel, Hartge gear knob, driver's footrest, instrument cluster and Hartge-branded speedometer calibrated to 260 km/ h instead of 240. The centre console houses gauges for oil pressure, oil temperature and water temperature.
Exterior:
The bodywork was fully repainted in 2024, as confirmed by the 2025 expert report. It features the complete Hartge body kit with front apron, side skirts and rear apron, Hartge badges flocked on the side skirts, side stripes, Hartge logos front and rear, and the spoiler. The car also has a sunroof.
