Description
For sale: Citroën CX 25 RD Ambulance, converted at the time by coachbuilder Bernard Collet, model year 1978.
The vehicle has just been granted historic vehicle registration.
This is a genuine former ambulance based on the CX 25 RD, appealing to collectors, Citroën enthusiasts, or restoration projects.
The CX no longer has its original medical equipment fitted. The bodywork is in used condition and shows several dents, scratches and cosmetic faults, visible in the photos.
Work carried out and new parts
- New radiator
- New injectors
- Diesel filter replaced
- Engine oil change done
- New tyres + new spare wheel
- Brake discs and pads replaced
- Steering rack gaiters replaced
- New alternator
- Timing belt done October 2026
The vehicle has recently covered approximately 650 km without any particular issues with engine or hydraulic operation.
Work to be carried out:
- The clutch now needs replacing: it slips under load, so the vehicle will need to be collected by recovery truck / car transporter.
A few other jobs also need attention:
- some oil leaks at the front;
- some LHM (hydraulic fluid) seepage/ leaks to be traced;
- the diesel tank delivery pipe connection has come unsoldered at the tank and needs repairing;
- cosmetic restoration, depending on the level of restoration desired.
The vehicle is sold with full knowledge of these faults and the price reflects this.
Nevertheless, the CX makes a good restoration base: the engine runs, the hydropneumatic suspension works, and it now has historic vehicle registration.
