Ford Mustang Fastback 302 ci Tremec — Shelby GT350 Tribute
Motors Corner is proud to present this 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback, built as a tribute to the Shelby GT350. Rolled off the Ford line in 1966, it has been converted in the spirit of Carroll Shelby's GT350s and carries their signature details: red livery with white stripes, Shelby wheels with Cobra centre caps, a wood-rim steering wheel, roll bar and side exits.
It is not a factory GT350, and it doesn't pretend to be. What it is, however, is a serious, well-finished build designed to be driven: rebuilt engine, five-speed Tremec gearbox, power steering and revised running gear. Its history file confirms this, with two appearances at Le Mans Classic, in 2018 and 2022. The glovebox bears a Carroll Shelby signature, and the dashboard retains a 1992 Shelby American Automobile Club plaque.
Engine:
The V8 has been bored out to 302 cubic inches and prepared top and bottom with Cobra performance parts: intake manifold, camshaft, large-capacity sump, four-barrel carburettor and side exhausts with H-pipe. The engine runs perfectly and delivers its full power. The original gearbox has been replaced by a five-speed Tremec, which transforms on-road driveability and makes long journeys far more comfortable. The car also receives power steering, front disc brakes and Koni Sport dampers, for healthy handling that matches the power on offer.
Interior:
The black interior is in good condition. The front seats are semi-bucket sports seats in very good condition, and the rear bench remains original. The dashboard, carpets and headliner are well preserved, and the Shelby wood-rim steering wheel is in very good condition. The air conditioning works and has been modernised. The car is fitted with a roll bar, making rallies and historic track days a comfortable prospect.
Exterior:
The bodywork is in very good overall condition, with no sign of impact damage, flawless paint and chrome in perfect condition. The white stripes are painted, not adhesive. The Shelby wheels and their tyres are in very good condition.
