The Appeal
Sometimes desperation is the mother of invention. So it was when BSA found itself lagging behind its competitors in the crucial 650cc touring market. The solution? Entice the best engine man in the business to work for you.
That man was Bert Hopwood, already famous for his work on the Triumph Speed twin and Nortn Dominator engines. He devised the clever A10 ‘Golden Flash’ that turned BSA’s new A10 into one of the best touring bikes of its generation. The comfort, reliability and smoothness of these bikes explains why good ones remain so popular with enthusiasts.
This restored 1959 A10 is certainly a good one. Refinished in gold with red pinstriping, it is a really lovely example that is a testament to the care of its keepers. Rather than be locked up and simply admired, it has been used and enjoyed over the years, albeit more sparingly since its restoration which has preserved the condition. It has been regularly serviced, covering less than 250 miles since the last oil change.
The vendor has thoroughly enjoyed the bike but says it is now ready for a new keeper.
