The Appeal
The TR6 was the Karmann-tweaked final flourish for Triumph’s brawny sports car bruiser, the car from over here that did rather well over there. As this car proves - it is a USA LHD model that the vendor acquired in 1991 whilst living in Indiana. He loved it so much that he brought it back with him when he returned to the UK in 2011.
Smartly finished in blue with white racing stripe and red pinstripes that match the Redline tyres, it is in remarkably good condition and presents well in the usual areas you will likely want to check on these cars. The chassis has been checked and remedied recently by TR specialist CTM Botley.
We are told that the engine was rebuilt shortly before the vendor acquired the car. The gearbox has been recently rebuilt. Other notable maintenance highlights from the last few years include new brake service, alternator, and servicing work. The car has been little used since 2023 but carefully garaged.
The vendor has provided an honest assessment of the car and tells us that the vinyl hood requires replacement and the blue vinyl seats need new covers.
With its reliable twin-carb set up and LHD layout, this car would be ideal for continental touring. Whatever you choose to do, we hope it finds a buyer as enthusiastic and committed to it as the current keeper.
The vendor says:
“It’s been a while for me, but the care is really fun to dive, it's a head turner. I have been reluctant to sell it but realise it needs to go to someone who appreciates it and is prepared to do the specified work on it.”
