The Appeal
Most classic convertibles come with a snag - they only seat two people and their boots are tiny. Not so Saab’s classic 900. Lopping the roof off the characterful and clever saloon creates a practical, long-legged, supremely comfortable and very reliable touring companion.
These cars are so dependable and usable that their slant four 2L engines tend to have covered intergalactic mileages. Not so with this car, which is barely run in at 125,000 miles from new. Finished in popular black with a full grey leather cabin, it is a good, usable survivor with the 145 bhp low-pressure turbo engine.
The car has been off the road since the last MOT expired in 2022. Judging from the general condition, including the photographs we’ve provided of the underside, it looks like a straightforward project to get it back on the road.
