Michelin’s clever ‘Rous Resine’ composite wheel is one of those clever motoring ideas that should have endured but, in the end, was merely a cul de sac. That hasn’t stopped this pretty, advanced wheel, designed as option for the Citroen DS and SM, becoming the ‘Holy Grail’ of owners of both style icons. 

The RR owes its existence to a NASA patent. The concept of a glass fibre resin wheel, with steel and carbon fibre reinforcement at the mounting holes, was developed for the moon buggy. One third the weight of a steel wheel and extremely strong, the RR proved itself on rally stages. 

Finding a ‘RR’ is increasingly near-impossible. Here we have a full set. They are in good order. There is scope to improve them, but are very presentable ‘as is.’ They would be ideal for a SM or DS owner, of course, but would also make a great talking piece on any Citroen owners garage wall.
