The Appeal
Many car companies have done many interesting things with Buick’s light, all-aluminium pushrod V8 engine, but few are as interesting or indeed unusual as Westfield’s SEight.
Shoehorning a 200bhp 3.9L V8 beneath the Westfield’s long, narrow bonnet was a proper departure from the firm’s usual fare of bike and small displacement car engines. And yet it worked. The light Rover engine didn’t compromise the 660kg kerb weight, instead giving buyers an incredibly quick Seven clone with a muscle car soundtrack.
Just 540 SEights are believed to have been built. This one was first registered in 1998 and shows just 24,000 miles from new. The MOT history suggests that this may be correct, although we cannot verify it. It is a really tidy example that benefits from a 2024 repaint in eye-catching green metallic. The paintwork is accented by carbon fibre while inside the black seats are matched with quilted trim featuring green stitching. With advisory-free MOT to June 2026, this tidy low mileage SEight promises to be a hoot.
