This 1956 Bentley S1 Continental by Park Ward is presented in Blue coachwork, with a tasteful Olive leather upholstered interior. The 4. 9 litre, six cylinder engine is a delight to drive and use and to this day is still a wonderful piece of engineering. The S1 benefits from having a higher compression, more efficient cylinder head porting and performance enhancing exhaust and camshaft than that of the S-Type. This particular example is particularly special due to the fact that is equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission from factory, believed to be one of only four produced with manual gearboxes. The manual gearbox was an optional upgrade and was only fitted by customer request, this owner was Tony Vandervell who alongside being a famous industrialist was also the owner of the Vanwall Formula 1 team and he could often be seen around the Grand Prix circuits of Europe in this very Bentley. Mechanically this car has undergone a complete nut and bolt rebuild by P and A Wood in the late 1960's and is currently being re-commissioned by Frank Dale and Stepsons of London. This then is truly a rare opportunity to not only purchase a rare Bentley but one that has notable history, not to mention is mechanically excellent, it drives and rides beautifully and is more than capable to outpace modern vehicles whilst allowing the driver to enjoy the luxurious motoring a Bentley has to offer.

The current owner purchased this car in the mid 1970's and has been in heated storage for the past 40 years with occasional use, bringing the total mileage to around 42, 000. The current owner has has possession of the original Rolls Royce/ Bentley build sheets along with other important documents supporting the cars history.
