Here for sale we have this extremely high specification and desirable Series 3. On the outside, there are some pleasing period features such as the rear mudflaps, rear grab handles, original galvanised cappings, and front lamp guards. The vehicle also has some pleasing modern additions such as the recent canvas, towball and electrics, defender door mirrors (giving superior rear visibility) and 750 tyres - these upscale the gearing and give the effect of an overdrive, making cruising at speed a bit quieter.
On the inside, the vehicle has a set of deluxe high-back seats, along with a centre cubby-box. Deluxe interior trim is fitted and this covers the transmission tunnel and floors, along with deluxe trim to the interior door cards. Deluxe matting is also fitted to the footwells - this makes the interior a very pleasing place to be! The rear is unfitted, and has been lined with chequer plate to increase strength for heavier loads - a load mat is fitted to the floor and the spare is retained in the rear on a dog, as it should be.
Out on the road is where this vehicle really shines - the 300TDI engine gives better economy over standard, in addition to increased power to aid getting to and holding speed. The deluxe trim dulls some of the interior noise, and the parabolic springs give a much more compliant ride over the rough stuff. The bonnet scoop acts as forced induction for the intercooler, giving yet more grunt - it really is one of the quickest series vehicles we've ever had!
