Description

For sale, through JOHN BROWN 4X4 LTD, Land Rover® Series 3 Ragtop in Marine Blue (1971).

Petrol 2500cc. Tax Exempt. MOT Exempt. Parabolic Springs. Previously rebuilt onto a new chassis. Range Rover Differentials. Previously refurbished and sold by us to order.

We are delighted to present for sale this stunning Series 3 soft-top in popular marine blue. This vehicle was refurbished to order by our team for a customer who requested a vehicle for his holiday home. It has now come back to us, as a part-exchange for a long wheel base Land Rover® that he needed for additional space.

This vehicle sits on a chassis which was fitted in recent years and as such is still in perfect unwelded condition - and as good as the day it was fitted. This is a highly desirable feature, meaning that the vehicle is so much more robust than a parallel vehicle of this age. At the time of the rebuild, a 2. 5 litre petrol engine was fitted for extra performance. This conversion is a clever idea as the engine looks identical to the 2286 unit, but has a better power output and a nice tone through the exhaust. Also added at the time of build was a set of parabolic springs which improves the ride quality significantly.

Externally, the vehicle was treated to a respray by us in recent years and the canvas is still in excellent condition... there are a matching set of smart modular wheels, fitted to 750 tyres giving increased gearing ratios. There is a handy towbar and electrics plus front diff-guard should off-roading 'be your thing'. A set of side steps was fitted by us during the refurbishment, aiding entry to the vehicle. A new pair of aluminium door tops were fitted, thus removing annoying rust issues.

The interior is a very nice place to be - the rear is fitted with new bench seats and belts, and the front cabin has uprated highback seating and cubby box for additional storage. The spare is housed on a dog to the rear of the bulkhead. Deluxe matting is fitted throughout. The culmination of all these factors makes for a very pleasant feel.

Out on the road, the 2500cc petrol engine pulls the car along very nicely indeed and the larger wheels give improved gearing ratios. The parabolic springs also assist with ride quality, meaning that this lovely, old girl drives up there with the best of them. Range Rover Differentials give the effect of an overdrive whilst giving much higher top end speed and longer in-gear acceleration..

If you are looking for a useable Series 3 soft-top that will feel that bit better to drive than a standard truck, then this is worth considering. Add into that the replacement chassis, MOT and Tax Exemption and popular soft-top configuration, then this becomes a very attractive proposition to own.
