Description

Launched at the 1957 Earls Court Motor Show, the Lotus Elite featured a highly innovative fibreglass monocoque construction and remarkable aerodynamics. Once in production the car was immediately popular with enthusiasts, due to its excellent performance and roadholding.

The SE was introduced in 1960 as a higher-performance variant, with twin SU carburettors increasing power output to 85 bhp and a ZF gearbox. The Super 95 gained an additional 10 bhp from its tuned Coventry Climax FWE engine with raised 10. 5:1 compression ratio.

This stunning matching numbers Super 95 is immaculately presented fresh from a 3 year sympathetic restoration, and is one of only 23 Super Series (95, 100, 105) cars. The restoration included an engine rebuild by specialist Tony Mantle of Climax Engine Services and the car also benefits from an unleaded fuel conversion, long range fuel tank and stainless steel silencers.

Chassis number 1917 is an original Super 95, as recorded in its original buff log book and the chassis register. Complete with extensive history and documentation this is a rare and highly enjoyable car with excellent investment potential.
