MGB Roadster.... SUPERCHARGED!
I bought this car, had it supercharged and then showed my wife. Needless to say it is now for sale! Let that be a lesson in life.
I looked at about 10 cars and every one was rewelded and wonky in some way. This is straight(and I suspect not had any welding). Apparently someone’s garaged pride and joy for life. Mileage shows 15, 000 which could be genuine based on condition but unlikely! MoT till Feb 2019
I investigated increased power options and asked the selling garage to fit the supercharger. Further spec details below.
This has cost a lot of money and I am asking less than it has cost me as I would like to move on swiftly. I want to sell quickly so will listen to all reasonable offers.
It came with a roll bar and uprated suspension and has a posh mohair hood, alloy wheels and ‘Sebring’ bodywork. There is good news on the insurance front too; Lancaster, the MGOC insurers, charged me precisely ‘zero’ extra for the supercharger.
If you have driven an MGB you will know that they have no performance. 0-60 time is over 13 seconds, you will be regularly overtaken by asthmatic milk floats. My approximate measurements of 0-60 now are about 8 seconds. To put that in to context it is now similar to a hottish hatch. The key thing though is that mid-range acceleration is now sprightly. Overtaking is now a distinct possibility unlike before. You can sit happily at 80 on the motorway and still have acceleration available. Also, because it is a supercharger the extra power is throughout the rev range so very useful and easy to access. I stress that this is not one of those ‘race tuned, stage 2’ engines where all the power is at the top end. There is a lot on the internet about Moss super chargers and MGBs, also on YouTube.
