It is with huge regret that it is time to sell my much treasured 1991 Mazda MX5 1. 6 Limited Edition.
I bought this car back in March 2017 having spent many years in the sun causing the paintwork to crack and fade. Her interior was tatty, missing the tombstone centre console and looked fit for the scrapyard in the sky. I took her under my wing and over the past 18 months I have slowly restored her to her former glory.
She had a full respray back in March 2018 back to the factory coat of British’s Racing Green as opposed to 50 Shades of Green. The wheels, albeit original, had been neglected too leaving them pitted and dull. These were replaced with another set that I managed to source online and now look almost spotless.
She comes complete with the original Clarion CRX111r radio cassette deck which is a rarity in itself, the wooden steering wheel and gear knob as fitted from factory, the brass LE plate on the dash along with the Limited Edition green leather wallet with certification of “Limited Edition-ness”.
This is not to be confused with the “v-spec” imports which look similar. The Limited Edition was released in 1991 to celebrate the first anniversary for the Mx-5 with only 250 being made. There are now only approximately 22 confirmed to still be in existence.
This car is completely factory minus the decat pipe which is not loud but adds a nice “rasp” to the exhaust note. It has just shy of 12 months mot, unfortunately it needed a few patches of welding this year which have been done. The sills are not perfect however they are not rusty and appear slightly mishapen from a jack perhaps. The hard top is included in the sale, along with the hard top stand and a Stormforce weatherproof cover. There are 2 files of service history for this car, along with 2 keys with remote fobs for the Toad alarm system (receipt of installation in file). Also included is a tan tourneo cover to match the tan soft top which is in excellent condition with no rips or tears.
I have in excess of 50 photos of the car throughout its journey, which can be sent to anyone who should require them. Viewing recommended. This has been listed as honestly as possible, it is not concourse however is a very good example with all of the original features.
Mileage is on 119k which may rise slightly due to occasional use. I am open to SENSIBLE offers. If you’re looking for a car to skid around McDonald’s car park, this is NOT the car for you.
