Description
The Benz Patent Motor Car Number 1 is the first car built by Carl Benz with combustion engine. The patent for this tricycle was filed by Benz on January 29, 1886 and granted as DRP No. 37435 on November 2, 1886. On 3 July 1886 Benz carried out the first public test drive with this vehicle in Mannheim. It is considered the first practical car in the world and thus sets the birth of the modern automobile.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Benz Patent Motor Car built in 1886, a small number of copies were produced on behalf of Mercedes-Benz by the renowned company John Bentley Technik, England. The Benz Patent Motor Car presented here is one such vehicle - a replica made in a completely authentic way. The car has been the subject of a high-quality collection in recent years.
