This is a now very rare example of the first of the “modern” big post war Austins.
We sold the car a couple of years ago and it has now come back in part exchange.
It has been in regular use and was driven 50 miles to us, it has a couple of modern concessions, an electric fuel pump for easier hot starting on modern fuel and subtle flashing indicators.
The car was restored, we think approximately 20 years ago from a pretty sound and original condition.
As can be seen from the pictures, it is still in very good order, polishing up well, although there are a few cosmetic blemishes here and there. It hasn’t had recent body repairs, so what you see is what there is.
The 2. 2 litre four cylinder engine fires easily and runs well with good oil pressure, it is surprisingly powerful and torquey and propels the car at a good pace, even on the hills!
The column change ’box works well and is straight forward to use.
The brakes pull up nicely and are good for a car of the period, all this adds up to a car that is very useable in modern traffic.
The car comes with a literal ”boot full of spares”, a service and a fresh mot (even though it doesn’t need one).
It is ready to enjoy, use as is or cosmeticallly improve as you go, the choice is yours!
