The Alvis Speed 20 was manufactured between 1931 and 1936. Our example was made in 1933 for Mr Kemp who knew the Alvis Directors Mr John and Mr Adams. This particular car won a silver award for coachwork at the 1933 Olympia car show, the bespoke bodyshell and finish winning the judges over.
The 2511 cc engine propelled the car round the Brooklands circuit at 84mph from a standing start in 1933.
We have a file of papers supporting the history of this vehicle, including original letters from Mr Kemp, receipts and reprints of articles and perhaps most notably the original registration book for a mechanically propelled road vehicle detailing ownership from 1933 to 1965.
There are not enough hours in the day to allow me to read through all the papers to tell you more. The new owner(s) could easily lose a long weekend reading the history of their new purchase.
