We are delighted to present for sale this Series 3 with the popular 200TDI engine, fitted with turbo removed.
Externally, there are many period features such as the rear mudflaps, lifting handles, wing-mounted mirrors and rear split tailgate. This is the 'first generation' of the split tailgate that is now seen on the modern Range Rovers, - the top section can be lifted to create a canopy and the rear tailgate can be lowered to create a place to sit (as pictured). This is useful for lots of reasons - the ability to keep a tailgate should you want to fit a soft top, easy access for loading items (the tailgate top portion locks with a key), using it as a seat in inclement weather and also whilst the dogs run around in the field, a point-to-point event, or having a picnic. The 750 tyres are fitted to extend the gearing - required for the modern diesel engine to make the most of the additional power and reducing cruising RPM's whilst increasing top end speed.
The interior houses a set of three techno style front seats, with deluxe matting to the footwells. A smaller steering wheel is fitted to allow for a larger driver, however this has not had an effect of making the steering heavy as this vehicle has very light and direct steering. The rear houses the spare in the correct location against the rear of the bulkhead. It is possible to fit benches in the rear to increase carrying capacity to 7 seats including the driver for £295, or to change the front seats to the standard black vinyl type for £295.
Out on the road, this Series is great to drive - it has super sharp brakes, and although they appear entirely standard, are some of the strongest we have come across! The removal of the turbo to save potential drivetrain wear does nothing to prevent the power of the engine - it is eager and keen to accelerate. This gives a better driving experience than a standard Series 3, more usability and superior fuel economy.
In summary then, if you are looking for a good value Series 3 with lots of handy extras like a split tailgate, then this could be for you. With the added bonus of MOT & Tax Exemption, classic insurance and increased fuel economy over standard it should prove cheap to run in the long term.
