Description
This is an Originally Gold Mini Mayfair Manual with chocolate interior. It has covered a very low 65000 miles.
All the interior is there except carpets, the chocolate cloth is very good, having covers on front seats, front door cards a little warped but the cloth is good and they are in the back of the car.
It will not take much to get this running again, it drove itself into storage a few years ago.
I think painted purple for an advertising campaign at some time and blown over in grey primer to cover it before selling on. All the paint has done a good job of preserving the mini, helped by all the floors and inner arches also being coated in rust resistant grey paint which has stopped the usual rusting from inside out through damp getting in.
I cannot see any previous repairs and def no ugly patches welded to it or any signs of filler, except maybe a tiny bit on a front wing.
All the usual Mini structural rusty areas are very good, the roof and gutters are excellent, wings and a panels very decent. Scuttle is very good.
Sills are very strong, floors are very good including the arches in the car and boot floor and battery holder, boot and bonnet are very good.
Having had a good look over it the following.
Paint
A very small hole in floor where your heel would be when driving. that is it as far as structural goes that i can see and looks like a split seam rather than rot.
The drivers door shell at bottom is a little crusty, skin looks fine.
Passenger door shell at bottom is quite crusty, skin not bad at all.
The front panel behind the bumper looks like a little new metal is needed.
O/ s rear quarter in front of wheel needs a little new metal and seam.
There is possibly a little bit of filler at the very top corner of o/ s wing.
a few bits of exterior trim.
Not a great deal on a 35 year old mini, all the paint and interior rust proofing has done it, s job. You are not going to find loads of previous bodged repairs and it already has the mini light type wheels most get fitted with.
There is not loads of structural welding, or much bodywork welding, there are not loads of rusty blisters either, none to be precise.
This Mini is well within the capabilities of the home restorer to prepare for paint and with the nice original interior perfect to restore to original or a very good basis to build your own way.
I think everything there is repairable without the need for new panels. that would be your choice but if you want a very nice Mini on a budget this is the one.
