In the early days, Aston Martin concentrated on racing events such as Le Mans and Mille Miglia, which was due in no small part to the fact that the engineer and main shareholder Bertelli was himself a passionate racing driver. The Aston Martin Le Mans was presented at the London Motor Show in 1932. The special features were mainly technical: new frame with only 102 inches length, dry sump lubrication, four cylinder engine with overhead camshaft and Laycock gearbox, etc.. An Aston Martin 1. 5 L Le Mans took part in the original Mille Miglia. This ensures the eligibility to participate in the current Mille Miglia today.
Chassis H3/ 303/ S is one of just 106 examples built by the Aston Martin factory in 1933. Registered as ALY 237 upon delivery in period (a number that it still holds today), H3/ 303/ S was supplied new to Basil Emmott in 1933 and comes with a continuous ownership history since new.
It is a very original vehicle which has kept its original chassis and engine until today. H3/ 303/ S was serviced by renowned specialists and received a complete engine and transmission overhaul by Aston Martin luminary Ecurie Bertelli. The car has successfully competed in the Mille Miglia six times in recent years.
