Description
This Mercedes Convertible based on the “Ponton-Series” was introduced in September 1955 and built until 1960. While it matched the Limousine model in the front design and technology, starting with the windscreen, this Convertible was a highly original and very elegant car. An abundance of luxury in the interior, paired with highest quality in materials and execution. After the production of 3, 429 cars, the carburetors of the Coupe and Convertible models were replaced by the model SE with injection engines which was considered super modern at the time. 1, 942 cars of the new model were produced.
Our 220 SE Convertible was first released in May 1960 and so is one the last cars built of this model. It remained with its first buyer until 1979 and is now being offered by it’s second owner in its original condition with nice patina. This classic car has never been restored and the necessary maintenance and repairs were carried out by specialized body shops. This is a rare opportunity for a collector to own a true original that is ready to hit the road.
