Exterior Features
The Golf is finished in the factory colour of 'Jade Green' and the condition of the paint work is great all around the car. There are no rust issues and the overall body is superb. Being an early example, this model features the smaller bumpers with red stripe detailing and the black VW badge set into the twin headlight grille.
Wheels & Tyres
The 14" Pirelli P-slot alloy wheels finish off the retro look of the early 80's Volkswagen and all have good tyres. These wheels would have been an optional extra worth having at the time of building the car back in 1987.
Interior Components
The Interior seats are striped cloth and have no rips or tears. There is a mechanically operated sun roof and the car has an upgraded central locking, alarm and immobiliser system for ease of access and security.
Mechanics
The 8v fuel injected GTI engine is responsive whilst being reliable and has stood the test of time, still running as well today as it would have in the 80's.
There is supporting documentation that the Golf has had lots of service and mechanical parts replaced over recent years. In 2017, as well as a full service and spark plug change, it benefitted from new brake hoses, replaced gear linkages, rocker cover gasket, track rod end and timing belt replacement. ??
Service & Maintenance History
There is a large file of history with the GTI and there are many receipts for regular services and work carried out which dates back to 1991. There are also MOT certificates dating back to the first MOT. The vehicle is HPI clear.
Drive & Comfort
This Golf is a shining example of the Golf Mk2 and drives superbly well. The handling is great and suspension feels comfortable on the road with all components working brilliantly. Economical and responsive, this is a great example of 80's German engineering. ??
