Description

One of only 5000 worldwide limited edition models ever made, this is number 2537/ 5000, and with only 440 of those being RHD UK Spec, this is a very rare car indeed. And its made even rarer as it is the rarest colour that was produced.

If you're reading this advert then you will know the history of the cars, rally pedigree etc etc, so I wont waffle on about that.

I bought the car in 2016, running and driving, but knowing that she needed some work, mainly to the underside.

When up on the ramp and looking at derusting the undercarriage, we noticed that the fuel tank was nearly rotten through, so due to lack of being able to find another suitable one, I had an aluminium fuel cell made for the car which is installed but not connected up at present. I have since found an original fuel tank and filler neck which are in exceptional condition and will be sold with the car.

I have a set of 4 original alloy wheels and the space saver spare too, they will need a refurb, but again they will go with the car.

The engine management system was taken out to recalibrate another CS, but I have it here and it will obviously go with the car. All leads, plugs and bolts are present and in perfect order.

I have the original air filter, and two other large boxes of spare ST185 GT4 parts that have either come off this car or that I have collected over the years, and again they will all go with the car. Including a spare passenger door!

The car has full service history going all the way back to the year it was bought in August 1992. The original service book is present, as are the manuals and even the original Carlos Sainz Limited Edition Certificate is here, all held in the original service book folder.

In addition, I have all the old MOT's going back to 1995, the first year it was due, and invoices for work done over the years, again bound in a Toyota Folder.

It has the original two sets of keys.

The car has been a non runner since I took it off the road because of the fuel tank problem 4 years ago, and does need work. It has been stored either in a garage or under an outdoor car cover during this time to minimise any further degradation and will need welding and tidying up underneath, including sills, new brake and fuel pipes, original fuel tank & filler installing, slight ding on the front bumper, and will need all the original parts that I have collected putting back on to the car. Engine will need recomissioning, but doubt that it will need too much as it ran perfectly before I took it off the road. These engines are bullet proof if looked after correctly.

The body work is in decent condition with little to no surface rust bubbling through, however it has had a rough respray in the past and there is paint peeling in a couple of spots.

The interior is in very good condition. Very slight wear on the drivers seat bolster, but not worn through. The headliner could do with a clean. There is an after market steering wheel on the car at the moment, but again I have the original, which may need the leather restoring.

The only things that were non standard when I bought the car were the wheels (originals sourced and included), it has a dump valve that can be easily removed, a non standard air filter (original sourced and included) and the steering wheel.

I am pretty sure that I now have all the bits for it to be restored and put it back together as a completely standard car, but if there are any small parts missing I also have the number for a parts company that are brilliant in sourcing parts for these cars. I'll play that close to my chest for now, but when the car is sold I will give the buyer their number.

Unfortunately I have too many other projects going on at the moment, and it is becoming apparent that I'm just not going to get round to doing it, so time to let her go and let someone else bring her back to her former glory.

I did think about breaking the car for spares, but I just can't do it with it being such a rare car, and with the full history and certificate, I believe this car will make a perfect candidate for restoration and in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing with these cars, will be a savvy investment as the prices on these are climbing.

Most of the original 440 UK cars have been written off or cannibalised for other non CS ST185's.

Anyhoo, if you are interested please give me a ring. If I cant answer, please send me a text and I'll call you back ASAP.

Additional photos of any part of the car available on request.
