The Ferrari 308 was released at the Paris Auto Show in 1975 as a successor to the very successful 246 Dino. The 308 was the very first mid-engine v8 powered production Ferrari, which seems to have been a good formula as they are still using it on their road cars today. The 308 lasted all the way until 1985, undergoing a few changes throughout its life cycle. The early cars were carbureted 2 valve 3. 0 v8s. In 1980, they went to a Bosch Fuel Injection system to meet emissions requirements, which unfortunately lowered the power output. However, in 1982 they released the 308 “qauttrovalvole” which translates to “four valve”. This bumped the power output back up to 240bhp but now with the reliability and ease of fuel injection.
Presented here is an excellent example of a later production 308 QV. With known Ownership history, this car has only traveled 30k Miles since it was sold new. Overall the car has held up excellently. The interior is in wonderful condition, with just some wear on the drivers bolster. The carpets are in wonderful condition, with no appreciable wear or piling happening anywhere. All the switches and functions in the interior work as you would expect. Outside the cosmetics of the car are also in beautiful condition. The paintwork is absolutely great, with no checking or cracking and almost no damage anywhere. The vinyl removable roof is still in nice shape, and has been shielded from the sun throughout its life as it is not warped or faded in any way. The glass is original and in great shape as well, with no major pitting on the windshield.
In the engine bay lives the original 3. 0 v8, in very original condition. Turn the key and the v8 lights right up. The gearbox clicks right into gear as you would expect it to. The car drives beautifully, without any weird squeaks or rattles to be heard. While this car does have 30k miles, it really drives and presents itself as if it has even lower mileage. This could be a great car for someone to drive or take to shows as it is in excellent condition, mechanically and cosmetically, and not be too afraid to get it out and drive it on the weekends.
