I truly am in two minds about selling this car, i love practical estates and this would be so easy to put back on the road even with an mot and run the DA over it and clear coat.
i will leave it here for a couple of weeks, if it sells it sells if not i am not worried. I will never find a better one.
Runs sweet, i am awaiting a new fuel pump and just replaced the accelerator pump on the carb and it is very obvious this unit has been rebuilt and done very few miles. 97k they are worn out usually, this is far from worn out.
1962 but re shelled with a very good 1968 shell, that save for 3 mot patches is not welded. The patches are on seat belt mount, an outrigger and o/ s sill. Easily done much better.
The sills are original, as are the rear arches, possibly had 1 new wing many years ago, floors and spring hangers all original and perfect, inner wings never touched and do not need doing, doors are excellent. All it needs is a couple of patches on front wings and that sill done properly, no way do they need replacing.
The shell has been painted once, many years ago and poorly prepared, there is flaky paint everywhere but there is not layers and layers of thick paint. I would just clear coat and use after sorting the patches.
The donor was actually mot tested and passed several years ago and has done no miles since, all the brakes were new back then and still work today.
This car is a day of going over and a patch on the sill from going through another mot. I put new tyres on it a while ago and the Exhaust is sound.
Inside is very nice, good headlining, great seats and a very good original rubber mat on the floor. Door cards are wobbly but material all good.
It is never going to be a concourse original because of the re shell but could easily be a show winner, not my thing but the potential is there because of the very good original condition.
It is also a great candidate for a Combi van conversion .
If you are looking for a winter project and Ford is the only choice you will struggle to find a better prospect than this.
