On offer is the original and very collectable Ford Sierra XR6. This the Cortina’s replacement was ahead of its time when launched in September 1982. Considered to be a super sleek aerodynamic design, it was at an age in motoring history where this modern movement polarized the older conservative buyers…however looking back today, it was definitely an innovative design for Ford that won the hearts and souls of many drivers as the Sierra went on a sales success all the way until 1993. To this day, the design is still striking.
Of all the models Ford came out within its lifespan, of which there were some super special versions, the Sierra XR6 from South Africa that fitted with the 3lt V6 Essex Motor which was a popular choice for the diehard Ford Fans. Today, its still a power house for a family sedan which continues to impress with its performance in a straight line.
This XR6 has had only 2 caring owners from new. The first owner drove a total of 35 000 kilometer’s until ’95 at which point it changed hands to the next door neighbor who had had his eyes on the car for 11 years already. Now with 97k on the clock (aprox 60k miles) the car still presents extremely well even carrying its original spare wheel and tire in the boot! The vehicle has recently had a thorough mechanical overhaul so it drives absolutely beautifully. It’s a get in and go car with nothing to spend in a hurry.
The car is currently located in South Africa with Road & Race Automotive in Cape Town. The price is inclusive of shipping and duties where the new caretaker can collect from the unpack warehouse near London Gateway receiving the car and all necessary documentation.
