Here for sale we are delighted to present this smart Series 2a, in popular Deep Bronze Green soft-top configuration. We have had the pleasure of selling this vehicle twice in the last decade, so we know much of its recent history too.
Externally the vehicle sports many period features including vintage numberplates, rear lifting handles, wing mounted mirrors and razor edge bonnet. A set of 750 tyres on period wheels are fitted to improve gearing ratios and lower cruising revs, and increase off-road capability. The canvas is recently fitted, along with a recent galvanised stick set, and a towbar and electrics is fitted to allow towing. The keen eyed amongst you will notice the vehicle sits tall – this is because the springs are very new (and strong!) and therefore take use to ‘bed in’ and push down!
The interior houses three recent front seats with full 3 point seat belts for each front seat (including the centre seat, which isn’t common to see!) and deluxe matting throughout. The heater is still in situ with the front demist to the windscreen, handy for winter days – and twin wiper motors are fitted. The dash is simple yet period and it is pleasing to note that there are no silly additions other than those fitted as standard. The spare wheel is housed in the rear, on a dog fitted to the rear of the bulkhead. A pair of bench seats are fitted in the rear to allow seating for seven occupants including the driver – all with belts too!
Out on the road, the petrol engine pulls well, and the slightly larger 750 tyres, which afford a more relaxed cruise at lower revs. It delivers a pleasing, period driving experience which is aided by the larger rubber. The new ignition system gives a better chance of long term reliability, and it is also nice to see a new carburettor has been fitted too.
In summary, if you are looking for a simple to maintain, period Series 2a in popular petrol and soft top configuration then this could be for you. With tax and MOT exemption, along with classic insurance, it should prove cheap to run in the long term whilst being a solid investment. Similarly, as the previous keeper has already spent the money kitting this out for 7 people with belts and fitting an ignition system for more long-term reliability – this will save your pocket!
