Description

Sold as seen.

When Mercedes launched the 'Baby Benz' it was lightyears ahead of the competition. For this reason, the W201 has become a much-loved cult classic in recent years, and is sure to continue to be cherished and valued for years to come.

This 1992 190E features the 'entry-level' 1. 8, which is by no means a slouch and still offers up to 32mpg. The car has 120, 000 genuine miles, but quite honestly could be a quarter of that by the way it drives, and its condition inside and out.

The car was comprehensively serviced in its first 10-15 years of life. Paperwork is sparse after that, once the car was no longer used on a daily basis, however, the car has just had a full service with Berkshire Porsche Specialist Flat Six Jack, and also has documented services in 2012, 2015 & 2016. The way it drives confirms that it has been properly maintained throughout its life. The car starts every time, revs beautifully, changes gear smoothly, and handles like the day it left the factory. This is backed up by its 12 months MOT with no advisories.

Around £2000 has been spent on the car this year, including a brand new exhaust, brand new Eibach lowering springs on all four corners, 4 brand new Hankook tyres, and 4 mint genuine BBS 16 inch wheels which have been painted to match the body colour.

Negatives:
Some stone chips and light scratches, to be expected of a car that's nearly 30
Can be slow to start on very cold days, but has never failed to start
Two small chips on interior wood, however, there's not much else to fault inside
Was suffering from slight rubbing after lowering springs were fitted, however, race prep specialists Charles Gates Racing rolled the arches carefully, eliminating the issue
No centre caps for BBS wheels. Nice ones are difficult (but not impossible) to find and many prefer the look without them.
Some tiny spots of rust bubbling, but hardly big enough to mention and definitely not spreading
