We are delighted to present for sale this rare Series 2a crossover, presented in RAF Blue, with matching wheels and sand canvas.
Externally, there are lots of period features such as the vintage numberplates, rear grabhandles, original galvanised bumper, razor edge bonnet, rear mudflaps and a recent canvas to name a few. Some useful modern upgrades have been added such as a towball with electrics to allow towing and larger defender door mirrors for increased visibility for the driver.
The interior has 3 deluxe seats in the front, with deluxe matting to the footwells. There is a square smiths heater fitted with working front demist, which is handy for those winter mornings. Door cards are fitted to give that luxurious feel and give additional sound deadening. In the rear, the matching spare is mounted on the bulkhead, as it should be, behind the driver. There is a load mat to the floor to protect against scratches, but it is otherwise unfitted. Should further seating be required, rear bench seats can be fitted for £350 to increase capacity to seven occupants including the driver.
Out on the road, this series delivers a pleasing period driving experience, aided by the larger tyres to extend the gearing, and the free wheeling hubs to maximise economy and limit axle wear. The tyres are recent, and have lots of tread – they are also a good cross-climate balance which give a nice compromise between road-holding and off road ability, should this be required.
