Registered new in London in 1974 as VYR 651M. Originally supplied in Demask Red with chrome wire wheels and a manual overdrive gearbox, plus the standard 4 1800cc cylinder engine .
The cars accompanying file shows its early history from the 1970’s to the 1990’s where it had service works, bodywork restoration works and even some upgrades, with a Oselli engine upgrade however there is no mention of the goodies currently fitted.
In more recent years VYR 651M has had some rather special upgrades as follows:
• Rover V8 4. 6 engine and a manual gearbox. The engine has the markings of V8 tuning specialist RPI Engineering on the rocker cover so, we assume, supplied and fitted by them.
• The rear Axle is a Hoyle uprated unit, which are highly regarded as a conversion.
• Twin exhaust system
• Multi CD player , uprated leather seats , wooden interior dash fittings
It was obviously someone’s intention to build a rather special fast road good handling and comfy MGB Roadster.
More recently the car has recently had commissioning works undertaken due to the car being stored up. The brief was to get the car up and running again, so new 6-volt batteries have been fitted, attention undertaken to the wiring, the brakes, and other items as necessary. The tyres are matching and good, engine oil pressure and temperature is good, and the car drove well.
Despite have some body restoration works undertaken in 1995, there is now more work needed. There are signs of corrosion bubbles in the usual MGB areas, door bottoms, front and rear wing seams, sills, so potentially a fair amount of work.
The interior has uprated leather seats, a good hood, a tonneau cover, a Motolita steering wheel, and wooden dash capping’s.
This is a rather interesting MGB Roadster with very desirable upgrades that would benefit from some bodywork attention, which is therefore priced accordingly.
Currently located in Jersey.
