For sale a rare chance to own a

1957 FORD HI-LINE CONSUL (FARNHAM) ESTATE

This is one of only two Hi Line Consul Estates known surviving worldwide, believe the only one on the road.

This car also has an extremely rare and desirable Raymond Mays alloy cylinder head with H7 SU carburettor, inlet manifold and tubular four branch exhaust, complete with Raymond Mays grill badge.

For those who are not quite sure, what's so special? Mr Raymond Mays was a racing driver and Hill climb champion who co-formed BRM racing which won the formula 1 world championship with driver Graeme Hill, at the same time developing tuning parts for ordinary cars in the 50s and 60s.

Very nice and interesting piece of period tuning equipment this gives this consul much improved zephyr performance with good economy. All originally fitted by Raymond Mays in the 60s complete with a brand new half engine all receipts and documents, guaranteed you almost won't find another! Engine runs well, was refreshed about 10k ago, engine bay just needs a clean up and some detailing to make perfect. Exhaust has a blow somewhere, will come with an exhaust just needs fitting.

Also fitted on the car is the only known Handa vacuum operated overdrive which means you can cruise at modern speeds no problem, this was rebuilt in 2008 and a new diff fitted at the same time.

The balance and weight distribution of the car means it drives amazing, you can drive it with your little finger!

Paintwork is very respectable but not A1 perfect, was resprayed about 6 years ago. New bumpers and over riders were fitted at the same time.

Wheels currently fitted are Thames 15" steels, have got a set of 14" zodiac wheels to go with the car with new hubcaps not yet fitted.

If it takes your fancy I have a set of 13" wide wheels, rear lowering blocks and additional front shocks to have lowered, I even have a steel hi line sun visor to complete the custom look!

Interior is in a good condition apart from one small hole in the front seat (that chain wallet went in the bin), all gauges working correctly, no radio fitted.

The paperwork and history file that comes with the car is extensive and a fascinating read, loads of receipts, a diary of work, correspondence, old logbooks, manuals and brochures, the highlight being the Raymond Mays bits.

To sum up, the extensive history, the Raymond Mays Conversion, the Handa overdrive and only 2 surviving Hi Line Consul Estates worldwide makes this car so very rare.

Very nice example, a joy to drive, a pleasure to own, get loads of comments and admiring glances but now it's time to let someone else enjoy it. Wouldn't be out of place at Goodwood, Brooklands or an old British racetrack

Now going down a hotrod route so it must go. The pictures tell its own story but viewing is a must or contact for more info. Box of spare parts available with the car as a bonus.
