FIA Kit Car F2 to participate in the Italian Rally Championship, in which it raced from 2000 to 2004, and in the Junior World Rally Championship in 2005.
The Fiat Punto S1600 was built in 1999, initially for wealthy private customers. The basis was the Fiat Punto HGT, from which the 1800 cc engine derives, reduced to 1600, managing to develop 215 HP at 8250 rpm with a six-speed sequential gearbox.
Following the great success achieved and in parallel with the creation of the Junior World Rally Championship, which included the participation of drivers under the age of 28, it was homologated in Group A S1600 with number A 5609 02/ 01 VK in the Kit Cars category, and under number A 5609 09/ 01 KS in category S1600.
At its debut in Spain, the car, driven by Massimo Macaluso, was forced to retire due to a mechanical problem. Luca Pedersoli instead managed to win the Sanremo rally in the same year. In the following season Andrea Dallavilla, after a series of podiums and a victory, finished second in the general drivers' standings only behind Sebastian Loeb.
In 2003 Paolo Andreucci, together with co-driver Anna Andreussi, won the Italian Rally Championship and in 2004, the Italian Super 1600 Championship.
