We are delighted to present for sale this high specification Series 3 ragtop Land Rover®. We have previously had the pleasure of selling this vehicle and have known it for several years.
Externally, as the photos show, this vehicle stands really well – aided by a plethora of desirable extras. A full set of 750 Chevron Tyres w/ matching spare are fitted along with defender mirrors, sump guard, rear mudflaps and grabhandles, original galvanised cappings and bumper. All in all, we are very happy with the external appearance and think it would be a nice addition to anyones drive – it certainly has a strong presence!
The interior is also a nice place to be with three standard front seats, along with a seat belt bar for inertia reel belts and deluxe matting to the footwells. The rear is unfitted with the exception of a load mat, but could house bench seats for £35o if so desired to bring seating to seven people including the driver.
This vehicle is a relatively high specification Series 3, and not only does it benefit from a replacement galvanised chassis in times past, but also various other upgrades… there is a more modern, more powerful 200TDI engine fitted, which will give twice the economy, twice the power and increased reliability over standard. Uprated parabolic springs are fitted for a better ride (this is a big added benefit making more regular driving much more palatable). Out on the road, the oversized tyres make the most of the added performance by extending the gearing, and this old girl really does shift! We like the idea that this vehicle, to the untrained eye, looks standard but under the skin has a more modern drivetrain for the potential for longer journeys and more regular use.
In summary, if you are looking for a Series 3 ragtop Land Rover® for year round use, and you plan to actually go places in it rather than just trundling around the lanes or to the pub, then this is probably the best set up to achieve that. We think this truck looks really good and based on the previous keepers’ experience, it should prove to be a reliable addition to any family stable too. With increasing residual values, classic insurance and upcoming tax and MOT exemption, this old girl should serve well in the longer term too.
