Here we have my 1931 BSA Trike, this is a very special car, having received a thorough restoration resulting in a road-going special. It started as a tired BSA front-wheel driven trike with the Hotchkiss derived 1100cc Vee Twin. Two brothers restored the car roughly 10 years ago, one a professional engineer, the other, a professional body fabricator. Everything has been refreshed and stove enamelled, plated, polished or renewed. The original body was deemed too far gone to restore, so a new streamlined body was fabricated and fitted. All mechanical components were rebuilt and the mighty vee twin was converted to twin carbs. The result is a fabulously reliable and easy to drive car.
I acquired the car over 3 years ago as a 90% complete running project and set off to make it something very special. Give a shipwright a pre-war car project and this is what might you get. I proceeded to replace all the woodwork, sourced the correct original gauges, completely rewired the car and had the interior re-trimmed in a Bordeaux leather. Finally, I had the top pre-war BSA mechanic called out and thoroughly inspect the car front to back to the tune of around £2, 000. This car now needs nothing at all and is a joy to drive.
So what is it like to drive? I have described it as running through an alpine stream naked! It is a visceral experience. In any case, it sounds like nothing else with it's Brooklands silencer... hence the name 'Hells Bells'. Despite this, it always starts on the button and is very easy to drive. It keeps up with modern traffic and stops very well indeed! Pretty remarkable for a pre-war car. I have had it to 70mph on a flat straight road and it had more but I chickened out... The ride is surprisingly compliant and it handles as well as you would expect of a three wheeler. The gearbox takes no getting used to and only requires the slightest double-clutching and the clutch is wonderfully light. If you are interested in this special car give me a ring and come round for a test ride... I guarantee you'll leave smiling.

This is a solid bike - there is no other way to describe it! For a mere 350, the BSA appears to be a big motorcycle – it’s no bigger than a Matchless or AJS 350 from the same period, but it does appear to be taller and a little heavier. This might be down to the BSA’s colourful paint job and the heavy use of chrome. BSA’s ...

Known as 'Bertie' this Mulliner bodied car was extensively restored, (inc a new rexine roof) by a car dealer in the 1980s. It now has great patina and doesn’t look restored.
