Description

The first Porsche 911 GT1 actually had little in common with the popular sports car, though it did share the front chassis, and front and rear lights, of the 993 generation model. Its rear chassis was developed from the 962 racer, along with a 3. 2-litre twin-turbocharged and water-cooled flat-six engine.

This is a genuine damaged front body section from Porsche 911 GT1 chassis 106, which was campaigned at the 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans by BMS Scuderia Italia. It was raced at the event by Pierluigi Martini, Christian Pescatori, and Antônio Hermann.

Despite the bodywork damage, this 911 GT1 went on to finish eighth overall, and fourth in the GT1 class for the 1997 24 Hour race.

This would be a fun ‘as raced’ addition to a collection of motorsport memorabilia. For a Porsche racing enthusiast or a die-hard follower of Le Mans, there are few chances to acquire genuine competitor bodywork, so this is a rare opportunity.

The front body section is fabricated from carbon-fibre by Nitec Engineering GmbH, which produced these components for Porsche Racing. The item is actually in two parts; the right wing and nose panel are connected, but the left wing panel structure comes away.
