We are selling our 23 window VW Microbus (converted into camper) this summer. The German made bus was first delivered in 1963 to the German Embassy in Mexico City before they eventually sold it in 1969. Since then it has had a real life, and has been owned both in Mexico and then in the US. We purchased the vehicle in 2015 in Arizona, took it to Chicago and then completed the Route 66 through to Santa Monica in 2016. We then shipped it to the UK and it underwent a beautiful camper conversion (the original microbus interior had already been replaced with later 80s seating) and the result is a fabulous looking VW Split. Please don't be confused in thinking it is a Mexican made bus, these came later, it is a German production that was delivered to Mexico.
It features gorgeous Red and Burgundy interior with the curved camper seating (with rock and roll bed), cab bench seating and door cards. This is then finished off with a beautiful striping pattern in the cushion and curtains to create a real feeling of bright and breezy comfort. Behind the double cargo door the interior is fitted out with amazing real American Walnut, and curved to fit. These contain a bar, gas hob, bluetooth hidden sound system, under seat storage and a gas heater system. There is also a removeable table which is stowed in the overhead compartment. This model of course features the full roof canvas pull back sunroof, safari and side pop out windows.
The bus of course looks fabulous but we do need to stress it isn't perfect, and likely never has been! All its life its been a worker, been on the road and been used and loved. It runs beautifully and of course is in great shape but over its long life has had many a repair and a change of this and that, and this is all part of what makes it fantastic and gives it real history. This is reflected in the pricing too.
