The Mondeo has been a hugely successful car for Ford with 5 million produced over its near 29 years of production. Since 2006, sales have slowly declined and earlier this year Ford announced that production will finally cease in March 2022.
Launched in 1993, the car was highly praised by the motoring press and a significant car for the Blue Oval brand with What Car crowning it Car of the Year. They quoted:
“Embodies all the virtues missing in mainstream Fords for so long, a car with quality to match a Nissan Primera, handling to match a Peugeot 405 and an interior design to beat a Vauxhall Cavalier and refinement to top the lot”
This wonderful example, a 1. 8LX Hatchback was delivered new in October 1994 by Lex English Ford of Poole, Dorset. Bought as a retirement present, sparingly used, and always garaged in a warm integral garage for the following 27 years.
With no less than 25 service visits to the local Ford agency, its average service interval mileage being only 1731 miles. The mileage now sits at 43, 915 miles. It smells just like a new car inside and drives absolutely flawlessly.
It gets so many admiring comments when taken to shows.
