Vehicle history:
The Mercedes-Knight models go back to the technical director Paul Daimler. He acquired patents for Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft from Charles Yale Knight from the USA for an engine whose gas exchanges are not controlled by valves, but by sleeve valves. The motors run more quietly and deliver high torque even at low speeds. In 1910, the first Mercedes with Knight production engine debuted in the 16/ 40 in Paris. Built from 1911 it remained in the program until 1924.
This Mercedes type "Knight" was delivered to Rio de Janeiro. Until the mid-80s, it was kept in an automobile museum before it came back to Germany in 1984 via a British dealer. With the support of the Daimler plant in Stuttgart, the seven-seater Tourer was completely restored and re-registered in Germany in 2015. A unique and very rare example that can hardly be found with a comparable original substance.
